Message in a Bottle

I invited a bunch of friends (10 people showed up-which was awesome) to participate in this creative first :  Message in a Bottle.

Three reasons I convinced them to do this with me:

1. you have to drink a whole bottle of wine and use that bottle to put your message into!
2. an excuse to drink and do something random and fun!
3. you get to throw something into the ocean and not feel guilty about littering!?
4. write your email address on the message in a bottle, and you might get a reply or a stalker, either way it will be interesting!!
How could you say no to this? Fun, right?

We each wrote letters to a potential person who might find it, and we added gold stars and Canadian Flags to make them pretty! The messages were placed in a ziplock bag inside the bottle (Matt's practical and clever idea) to protect the message from leakage of sea water, and the final touch was adding candle wax to the cork/top to seal it shut. This was my favourite part, as I'm a bit of a pyro and love playing with wax. muuuahhahaha.

I've always loved the movie Message in a Bottle that came out 10 years ago. A romantic story about a woman who discovers a tragic love letter in a bottle on a beach. The idea of throwing a bottle in the ocean with a private message is definitely romantic and fun, even if you don't pour your soul into it or write to a long lost lover. The thought of someone finding it, is quite thrilling. I hope one day, at least one of our bottles is found. Preferably in a different country, but that might be asking a lot. If someone in Vancouver finds it, that would be wicked, too.

Here is a video of the actual throwing of the bottles. 9 days of firsts 356 to go! ~~
